Michel Torino Cabernet Sauvignon Cafayate Valley Don David 2011

External Review by We Speak Wine:

Bright red-ruby. Varietally accurate aromas of plum, redcurrant, cedar and green pepper. Distinctly greener and more peppery than the Don David Tannat Reserve but boasts good texture and more energy and cut. Theres a faint rawness here but with its intense currant fruit and firm tannic spine this cabernet grew on me as it opened in the glass.

They were attracted by the benign climate, the beauty of the landscape and Cafayate Valley unique Terroir, good for quality grapes production. The winery took it's name from the legend of El Esteco City. According to this tale, Esteco was an opulent city in the north of Argentina. Its buildings, covered with silver shone and its people dressed in gold. In 1692 an earthquake buried the city and his its treasures. In the late 1970's the company bought the El Esteco estate and recovered the hidden treasure. We discovered the riches came from the soil. In honour to the legend, El Esteco produces the best grapes used for Michel Torino top export wines. Read less
