Michel Poinard Crozes Hermitage 2016

Winemaker's Notes:

"Still aging in a mix of concrete tank and new and once-used barrels, the 2016 Crozes Hermitage is a classic northern Rhone Syrah that has lots of blackberry and black cherry fruit, peppery herbs and hints of earth in its medium-bodied, juicy, yet nicely textured style. Drink it over the coming 4 – 6 years." – Jeb Dunnuck

Nicely fruity with good acidity and a good tannic finish. Fruitier than other French Syrah I have tasted. Nicely balanced. A winner. Improved with some air.

Hot damn! I was not expecting this wine to be this good. It was so complex! Red berry, floral, and licorice on the nose. Was more light-bodied than I'd expected. Very balanced with a nice long finish. Have a few more bottles of this in the cellar, and I'm thankful. Might even pick up a few more if I can.

From the Northern Rhocirc;ne Valley in France, this wine is the striking color of eggplant. Earthy notes and fruity blueberry on the nose, and a light kick of peppery spice on the finish. You will find this wine to be low in tannin and wonderful to drink. A safe bet for venison, steak or any game dish.

A big, powerful wine, this French Syrah features notes of blueberries, espresso, bacon fat and wet stone. All of the decadence of an Australian Shiraz, but with more balance, poise and natural freshness.

Fresh, almost lacy in feel, with a tangy sanguine streak running through the red cherry and damson plum fruit. Light, but lingering finish. Drink now.
