Michel Gros Hautes Cotes de Nuits 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

"This is also distinctly toasty with very spicy and seriously ripe aromas of cassis, black berry and red currant that give way to rich yet well-delineated medium-bodied flavors that possess a mouth coating and velvety texture on the seductively lingering and naturally sweet finish. Here again there is a sufficiency of mid-palate sap that successfully integrating the wood with a few years of bottle age should not be much of a risk...90-92" BH 01/12 "The 2010 Clos des Réas was not showing as well as the above wine at the tasting at the Château de Clos Vougeot, but this may have been the result of a recent racking, as there was certainly considerable promise on both the nose and palate in evidence. The wine just seemed a tad “muddled” on the palate, which is often just a reflection of a recent racking. The nose is a fine blend of plums, red and black cherries, a touch of nuttiness, Vosne spices, duck, fine soil tones and also a fair bit of spicy new wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and nascently complex, with a sappy core of fruit, refined tannins and a long, tangy finish. If the wine can snap back into focus, then it will merit a score at the upper end of the range. 2018-2045...88-92" JG 06/12

It was in 1830 that the GROS family set up in Vosne-Romanée. Today, Michel GROS, sixth generation of this dynasty of winemakers, continues and develops the work undertaken by his ancestors, as do his sister (Domaine AG Gros), his brother (Domaine Gros Frère et Soeur) and his cousin (Domaine Anne Gros). Passionate but also very rigorous, Michel GROS brings constant care to the development of his wines, by mastering all the stages of production, from vine through to bottling. Modest and unassuming, he expresses himself through his wines: generous, fine, elegant, of reliable and even quality. Michel GROS and all his team invite you to discover this universe of hard work and exigency, but also of sharing and passion. Read less
