Michel Gassier Pinot Noir Costières-de-Nîmes les Piliers 2007

Member Review by dynowine:

A beautiful, very well-integrated wine, dry but still sweet without overpowering fruit. It is hard to stop drinking this wine (fyi temp 62 F). Nose of sweet fruit and floral with notes of earth and herb. On the attack quite dry red and blue fruit; in the mouth round and smooth, medium body, tastes alternately of dry, slightly bitter earth and mildly sweet fruit, and is light and airy on the palate as the flavors waft again up into your nose as you consume it. Finishes with nut oil, mild fruit, and earth lingering. Wow - probably will have to decant to get this quality.

Our land – the beginning and the end A family of winemakers for four generations now, we are intimately connected to our land. By striving to live in harmony with nature we achieve a personal equilibrium and give meaning to our lives. The Mediterranean – our culture The Mediterranean is the cradle of our family. We have been nurtured by its strong and unique cultures, passionate and at times unbridled, yet always turned towards humanity. The family rock “We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.” We are but a link in a chain, receiving and then transmitting, following the path of generations past. Solidarity, trust, commitment, and love nurture the human spirit to tackle even the most ambitious projects. Read less

Bottle well-aired, about 2 hrs. Balanced, well-integrated, clean, clear for a rhone. Tested a second time. A richly fruited rhone, sweet red brambly fruit with hints of volatile and smoky earth and licorice. Delicious. hard to stop sipping this. Dry to off-dry. Body medium, acid medium, tannin medium minus.
