External Reviews for Michael-David Vineyards Viognier Lodi Incognito
A strong effort, the 2006 Incognito Viognier exhibits plenty of apricot and melony fruit as well as a hint of exotic tropical fruits. With excellent purity, and surprising size and definition, it represents a very good value for Viognier. It should be consumed over the next year. Some super values emerge from this Lodi winery.
Rich, very exotic, decadently drinkable, like an entire fruit store in a glass. Peaches, pears, pineapples, nectarines, mangoes, papayas, they flood the palate, with just enough acidity for balance, and a honeyed finish. Made with a dash of Roussanne and Marsanne.
Michael David makes this white wine, a blend of mostly Viognier and Chardonnay, with smaller amounts of Malvasia Bianca, Roussanne, Sauvignon Blanc and Symphony, steel-tank fermented and aged, a deliciously bright and perfumed, light-drinking, golden wine with a tropical fruit nose and ripe peach and melon as it goes down.
Do you like peaches and cream? Look no further than this elegant, lightly sweet liquid delicacy. A full, fruity mouthfeel is blanketed by a buttery, velvety texture of peaches and honeysuckle. This wine is perfect for both formal and informal occasions - with your Easter ham or turkey, at wedding parties, or served with hors d'oeuvres for summertime patio wine tastings. I also recommend it with spicy Indian food accompanied by chutney.
The 2005 and 2006 Incognito Viognier are nearly equal in quality. The 2006 is more fruit-forward. The wine possesses Viognierrsquo;s telltale peach and honeysuckle characteristics, and is meant to be consumed during its first 1ndash;2 years of life.
Easy to like for its fruity, flowery flavors and crisp acidity, this wine has extra layers of complexity. It feels as rich as honey in the mouth, yet is fundamentally dry. Nice with poultry, veal or fish with a fruity salsa topping.
