Michael & David Vineyards "7 Deadly Zins" Lodi Zinfandel 2007
Wine Advocate Review Rated 90 The 2007 7 Deadly Zins is a knock-out bargain. Aged completely in American oak, it is loaded with berry fruit, pepper, spice, and earth characteristics. This rich, full-bodied, opulent, luscious Zinfandel can be drunk now and over the next several years. Wine Tasting Notes A blend of seven old vine Zins from seven of Lodis best growers. Notes of sweet plums and pepper dominate the nose, while flavors of blueberry, raspberry, cinnamon, and black pepper pack the palate from start to finish. The silky-smooth tannins hold the wine together and deliver a soft, fruit driven experience. Gluttonous Pairings: Our 7 Deadly pairs sinfully well with BBQd Salmon, prime rib or grilled veggies. Get crazy with delectable dark chocolate desserts!

Editorial Reviews for Michael & David Vineyards "7 Deadly Zins" Lodi Zinfandel
Very typical peppery, jammy, black berry and spice nose, clearly defined. Big entry with a decent amount of RS up front turning deep and chewy with pretty intense flavors of blackberry, blueberry and backing spice on the mid-palate. A lot of wine for the money if a touch simple but well balanced and a solid value. Finishes with some lingering unintegrated acid. 87pts
Wow! Very herbacious and spicy cardemon to start with. Almost too dificult to drink. Better the next day and was wonderful the 3rd. day. Definately decant.
Carmelized sugar and smoky fig aroma. Smoky with bacon flavors. Medium tannins.
Intense berry jam aromas over hints of mint and tar leads to a sweet concentration of black current flavors, bright acidity, smooth tannins and eucalyptus on the finish.
I thought it was a very interesting zin--lots of flavors and a good combination. Good buy for the price, I felt.
If you like a big zin, you'll love this (especially for the price). It is a bit simple but there is a good jammy, spicy taste. This will not get lost with your food like some other reds.
