Michael and David Phillips 7 Deadly Zins Lodi Zinfadel Usa Red 2005
Seven of Lodi's best growers gave their souls and the firstfruits of each of their old vine vineyards to contribute to the layered complexity of this fanciful blend. Soft, supple pepper and licorice-clove notes merge into a sinful marriage of deep, brambly blackberries and lustful cherries. The finish is clean on the palate with hints of rich vanilla, cocoa, and mild tannins.
Rising from the resurgent Lodi Appellation, Michael~David Winery produces some of the finest award-winning varietal wines in California. We are six generations of winegrowers specializing in hand-crafted Rhone varietals as well as Lodi's famous Old Vine Zinfandels. Our tasting room, café and farmer's fresh market are located just 30 minutes south of Sacramento and one hour east of the Bay Area. Enjoy!
This is splendid choice. The nose is very soft and fruity. First taste is VERY smooth and I agree with the notes about the hint of pepper that makes itself known, alongside a bit of chocolate as well. The mouth feel is very good. Not too harsh on the palette and lingers for just the right amount of time. The tannins are just the way I like it. Enough to know they are there, but not SO much you wish they would leave. I'm upset I actually had to swallow each sip. Definitely a "BUY AGAIN"
one of the most average bottles ever...will not buy again
Strong nose with hints of berry and chocolate. Tastes of berry and plum. Spicy finish, nice tannins and smooth in the mouth. Good with spicy or saucy dishes. Also great with chocolate. Good but have had better.
Great zinfandel and did you see the price for this one too? You can not beat this wine. Lovely flavors. Someone tried squeezing the bottle trying to get the last drops.
A nice easy drinking Zinfandel for a reasonable price.
Big, brash, jammy, spicy. Smooth though, finish is lingering and wet. Obvious. Dried plums or dates, buttery. First Zinfandel, and I can understand what its about. The American Wine. Pairings: big flavors like barbeque or a hamburger or fried chicken(?)
Excellent Zin for the price. Great drinker, velvety smooth with hints of spice, clove, cherry. quite a kick on the alchohol side too.
