Michael and David 7 Deadly Zins 2009
Rising from the resurgent Lodi Appellation, Michael~David Winery produces some of the finest award-winning varietal wines in California. We are six generations of winegrowers specializing in hand-crafted Rhone varietals as well as Lodi's famous Old Vine Zinfandels. Our tasting room, café and farmer's fresh market are located just 30 minutes south of Sacramento and one hour east of the Bay Area. Enjoy!
Peppers and raspberries all up in here. Excellent bbq wine with some nice heavy jam that counteracts a big thick barbecue sauce.
Strong hints of berries, and yet lightly spiced for the kick! Goes well with the grill!
Well...my first experience with a real Zinfandel. Very nice...a more full-bodied experience with a tartness, and lingering tannins which segregate it from a Pint Noir (the earlier beverage I was enjoying), that allow it to stand up and say "Here I am!". I did not at all mind the exclamation...I'm looking forward to an afternoon of nothing but the 7 Zins...to insure my palate is clean...and I'm ready to enjoy. I think this wine deserves it. 2nd round 2 days later. I really enjoyed this wine. Huge vanilla on the nose and the back-end was more pleasant than I remembered. I'm still not experienced enough to pick out individual flavors on the palate...but I do like this Zinfadel. Curious if a single winery Zin will be much different.
March 2012 w/ Carneys.

Big, ripe and jammy, with an eclectic cobbler of cherry, blueberry, herbs and anise. Appealing if eccentric. Drink now through 2016.
A blend of fruit from seven vineyards belonging to Lodirsquo;s finest growers, this rich, full-bodied, opulent Zinfandel is loaded with luscious berry fruit and pepper, spice and earth characteristics.
This is Michael Davidandrsquo;s flagship Zin, a mighty production thatandrsquo;s popular and well-priced at $16. Full of big, ripe flavors of bacon, black fruit and toasty oak, itandrsquo;s plummy, juicy, full-octane-flavored, peppery, all you want in a Zin of this style.
Even better is the 250,000-case cuveacute;e of 100% Zinfandel, the 7 Deadly Zins 2009. This hugely popular wine spends 12 months in both French and American oak. Sexy and endearing, it offers a deep ruby/purple color, full-bodied, corpulent flavors and abundant berry fruit, pepper and spice notes. Drink this seductive, full throttle, classic Zinfandel over the next several years.

Notes of sweet plums and pepper dominate the nose, while flavors of blueberry, raspberry, cinnamon, and black pepper pack the palate from start to finish. The silky-smooth tannins hold the wine together and deliver a soft, fruit driven experience.
