Responsible for overseeing Gruppo Mezzacorona, the Mezzacorona Societa Cooperativa Agricola was founded in 1904 as one of the first growers associations in Italy.  Currently occupying just under 6,500 acres at the foot of the Italian Dolomites, Gruppo Mezzacorona which produces all Mezzacorona products, combines both the traditional pergola system of growing with the more modern espalier system for enological operations.  While staying true to the natural balance of the grapes, Mezzacorona is equipped with the most modern enological equipment allowing them to produce upwards of 8 million gallons of wine annually. Wine production focuses on quality white production with special attention paid to their Pinot Grigios and Chardonnays, both grapes coming from the Valle dell’ Adige section of the vineyards.  Red production is centered on the Teroldego, followed closely by their Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, harvesting the grapes from the Piana Rotaliana and Lake Garda regions, respectively. Renowned for their consistent quality, Mezzacorona wines benefit from the unique landscape of the Trentino and Alto Adige regions of Italy.  For years Mezzacorona’s renowned winemakers have planted varietals in locations best suited for that varietal, being sure to takeg advantage of all the micro-climates the region has to offer. Lemon blossoms and honied almonds dominate the nose which shows a touch of ashy, herby soil as well as a bit of sweet, dried apricot fruit. Nicely focused on entry with sweet peach and apricot fruit up front. It’s really a fruit driven style with a round mid-palate that is hinting at sweetness. This shows a gentle herbal quality on the backend that leads onto the slightly stiff, minerally finish making this a solid match for a pesto and cream pasta dish. 85pts

Tastes like apples to me, but I was the only one that got that taste

I love this wine! I'm able to buy it at a small grocery store here in Houston for $4.99. Definitely a good wine and a great price!
