Meursault. Louis Jadot 2012

Member Review by VegasOenophile:

Rich nose of toasted marshmallow and golden apple. Crisp on the palate with flavors of pear and apple. Some hints of toasted brioche. Wood aromas. There emerges, a nice bit of salinity and has a nice finish. Overall, nice. 3/8/12

Maison Louis Jadot is a winery that’s proud of its heritage and land. Founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, Maison Jadot expanded rapidly, taking northern Europe by storm. When his son, Louis Jean Baptiste, took over in 1900, more change took place, and many vineyards were acquired, including Corton Charlemagne and Chevalier Montrachet Les Demoiselles. With the help of Rudy Kopf, founder of the Kobrand Corporation, Maison Jadot expanded even further, setting up shop in both England and the U.S. In 1985, Madame Jadot sold the company to Rudy Kopf’s family, ensuring a successful future for the company. The land is very important to Maison Louis Jadot, and making the terroir shine through is always a priority. Maison Jadot identifies with its Burgundy heritage, and all wines are Appellation Contrôlée. The winery controls about 380 acres of land in Burgundy, including Côte d'Or, Mâconnais and Beaujolais. Jacques Lardière, winemaster, works with Christine, Guillaume, and Audrey to ensure that the single-variety wines produced, including Pinot Noir for reds, Chardonnay for whites, and Gamay for Beaujolais, always produce the best, most consistent wines. The 2009 Meursault is a gorgeous wine at this level. It shows marvelous harmony in a round, supple style well suited to near-term drinking. I find it amazing that Jadot produced a whopping 330 barrels of this wine, an enormity by Burgundian standards... Robert Parkers Wine Advocate. A Chardonnay wine from Burgundy in France. 2009 Louis Jadot Meursault 750ml

An attractively fresh and ripe nose that is classic Meursault, including background notes of roasted hazelnuts that can also be found on the rich, round and naturally sweet flavors that offer both good intensity and a seductive generosity, all wrapped in a delicious, mouth coating and nicely powerful finish. Solid quality for its level.

Classic white Burgundy from Louis Jadot in a convenient half-bottle size. Perfect for a first course pairing for two. Jadot Meursault is 100% fermented in wooden barrels and aged 15 months in the barrels before bottling. It has a fragrant, ripe, full bouquet. On the palate it has a generous, supple texture and the distinctive hazelnut and spice nuances which carry into a persistent finish of great finesse. Half-bottle, 375ml
