What to Expect

California's Napa Valley has been a source of world-class Cabernet Sauvignon for well over a century. Its warm climate and varied terrain allows for many styles of wine. One thread that runs through almost all the Cabernet based wines from Napa is their lush, ripe full-bodied feel and rich flavors of currant and berry. Wines from the valley floor, particularly around Rutherford, are famed for a dusty quality and those coming from the hillsides surrounding the valley, Mt. Veeder, Diamond Mountain and Howell Mountain for example, tend to be a little leaner with more obvious structural elements.

Reviews

This wine is richly structured and loaded with complex flavor reminiscent of dark fruits like blackberries and black cherries. In the mouth it has a rich, round, opulent feel. The dark fruit character lingers along with subtle oak notes in the long, supple finish.

This wine is made from lots selected for their complexity of flavors and supple tannins. The blend includes Merlot to help tame tannins, Cabernet Franc for its leafy aromatic contributions and Petit Verdot for its intense color and black fruit flavors. The wine was fined with a light treatment of fresh egg whites to take off a little of the astringent edge and leave the supple tannins. It was then carefully racked off the egg whites and bottled unfiltered. Round and harmonious in its youth, this wine will reward a few years of cellaring with nuances of aroma that only time in the bottle provides.
