Food Pairings for Merryvale Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
The nose showed black currant, a dusting of dark chocolate, lavender and a bit of butter cookie. On the palate, I found it to be a bit sweet with flavors of black cherry, plum sauce and clove. It's body was velvety and full with a slight coating of fine tannin, which was left behind after each sip. The finish fell a bit short, yet showed ripe berries, which turned a bit sour with time. For the money, this is a highly enjoyable bottle of Cabernet.

CELLARING Enjoyable now but will gain complexity with 5-10 years aging. WINEMAKER'S NOTES This wine is made from lots selected for their complexity of flavors and supple tannins. The blend includes Merlot to help tame tannins, Petit Verdot for
Color: dark red with good density. Aroma: sweet red and black currants, brambly blackberry jam, black olive, dried herbs and violets. Taste: soft entry, round with medium weight, toasty oak notes, and very good length
Supple aromas of concentrated blackberry and cassis echo on the palate showing the fruit's fine Napa Valley breeding and structure. Try with roast duck and turkey or barbeque.
Dark purple in color with generous aromas of currants, blackberry, licorice, chocolate, black olive, espresso and vanilla. The wine is round and full on the palate with forward fruit and great structure from the balanced acid and tannins.
Robert Parker calls it an excellent value - which packs a lot of flavor and intensity for its price. This dense ruby/purple-colored Cabernet reveals plenty of cassis, cedar, licorice and spice notes. It is a delicious, medium-bodied wine with supple tannins and a long finish.
Winemaker's Notes - Voluptuous aromas of cassis, black cherry, vanilla bean and cedar leap out of the glass.
89 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): A pretty, entry-level offering, the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Starmont is laced with sweet red berries, flowers, spices and licorice. This mid-weight Cabernet puts a premium on juiciness and approachability. It is a delicious wine to drink now and over the next few years. Even better, it is a terrific value. The blend is 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 3% Malbec. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2017. (Dec 2012)
