User Reviews for Merry Edwards Pinot Noir Russian River Valley
Add your reviewLight rose petal color. Ripe red fruit aromas on the nose. Strawberries and sour cherries up front. well balanced through the finish. The acidity tickles the eougne on the very end creating a pleasing sensation for several minutes afterwords.
External Reviews for Merry Edwards Pinot Noir Russian River Valley
A blend of seven vineyards scattered across the valley, this is a full-bodied, ripe Pinot Noir whose tannins suggest cellaring. Thoroughly dry, it shows deep notes of blackberries, black cherries, clove and pepper spice and smoky, vanilla-scented sandalwood. Feels elegant. Give it until 2013, at least.
Tight, firm and vibrant, full-bodied, with a mix of fresh earth, mineral and dusty berry fruit that gets a nice lift on the finish, where this is the most complex and tempting. Drink now through 2015.
Medium to dark garnet in color, this wine has a very pretty nose of raspberry and an interesting dichotomy between an airy sweetness and a briary quality that speaks to deeper complexity. In the mouth it is lithe and slippery, and almost more aromatic than it is flavorful. Beautiful bright raspberry flavors with hints of cedar swirl on the palate coursing over nice smooth, faint tannins that are balanced with excellent acidity.
Succulent red fruit, exotic brown spices and a gentle hint of white tea introduce this complex wine. Sweet and luxuriously soft, the wine offers a bounty of pleasures on the palate.
Winemaker's Notes:
Not yet reviewed; 2009 vintage rated 93 points by Wine Enthusiast: Merry Edwards doesnt just slap this regional blend together. This is a combination of her best vineyards. Its a wonderful wine, dry, balanced and deep in berry, spice, cola and earthy flavors. In many ways, its the consummate Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. Drink now-2015.
