Merry Edwards Coopersmith Russian River Pinot Noir 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

"The vineyard is in the coolest part of the valley, the southerly part Merry Edwards calls the Golden Triangle. The wine is dry, tannic, bright in acidity and insanely rich. Just floods the mouth with cherry, cola, anise, pomegranate and mulberry flavors, with an earthiness suggesting mushrooms...95" WE 2/12 "This firm, ripe Pinot features blackberry, black licorice, mineral, berry jam and floral scents, leading to a full body. Well-structured, ending with tight, minerally edge...92" WS 07/11 "Bright, full red-ruby color. Dusty black raspberry, cassis, violet and loam on the nose. Rich, concentrated and tactile, with pungent wild dark berry flavors complicated by a subtle saline quality and a note of sassafras. Youthfully primary today but showed an increasingly creamy quality as it opened in the glass, without betraying any heaviness. Finishes with suave tannins and a bit of acidity to be absorbed...91(+?)" IWC 06/12
