Merriam Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Dry Creek Valley Block 21 2004

Member Review by WineborkDotCom:

"Block 21" refers to a hillside vineyard block owned by T. R. Passalacqua Vineyards in the heart of Dry Creek. It is a nicely balanced, rich, chewy Dry Creek Cabernet with a classic California Cabernet profile. You don't have to search hard for the flavors in this forward, dark-currant and berry-flavored wine that also shows some dried-rose-like floral notes. Mouth-filling richness and long finish. Excellent wine that's ready to drink, from a winery off of Los Amigos Road just north of Windsor.

The theme carried through first with their love of entertaining family and friends with the perfect food and wine pairings, and, in 2000, with the production of small lot, handcrafted wines from their own estate vineyard, and from grapes grown in the Dry Creek and Alexander Valleys by some of the most highly esteemed growers in Sonoma County. Tasting Notes:

Deep, dark and ruby in color with bing cherry, eucalyptus, strawberry and cedar in the nose. Flavors of red berries, black cherry and bittersweet chocolate with a medium body. Abundant mouthfeel with no hard edges–bright acid, tannins with a slight toast of oak. A lasting finish of cassis, cedar and tobacco. Drink now, but will age gracefully for 5-8 years.

Notes: 100% French oak barrels, 40% new, 60% 2-3 years old

Wine Specs:

Alcohol: 14.2% pH: 3.5
