Merlot U.S.A Prod. & Btld. Beringer 2005
"Black cherry, blueberry and cocoa mint aromas blend with fruit forward flavors of black cherry and plum on the palate creating a Merlot that I find very satisfying from the moment I pick up the glass. Hints of cocoa, brown spice, toffee and vanilla bean mingle with the concentrated berry flavors and ripe tannins that extend throughout the long finish." – Winemaker Laurie Hook 2005 Beringer NV Merlot - Aromas of ripe plum, blueberry, van bean, coco, mint, pipe tobacco Rich, ripe tannins, black cherry, spice and toffee flavors 84% Merlot, 13% Cabernet, 3% Cabernet Franc 33% new oak
Wow! Super aromatic, cab-like nose. Lovely florals. Magnificent wine! Velvet in a glass. Beautiful deep, rich fruit and a cab lover's merlot! - Tasted at the Beringer Rhine House 4/20/10
This is a very nice wine. Gentle tones, warm fruit flavors, berries, jam, some chocolate, medium notes, well-balanced without acidity, medium finish. excellent everyday wine.
Fruity: Plum (Jeff), Berries (Rachelle) Smooth I don't like smell but tastes good (Rachelle) Low Tannins Fades at end, Jeff really likes the middle medium body Very drinkable
chalky with tanins
Dec 2007 got this bottle from Beringer wine club. it is jammy, silky, full of creme de cassis. We left 1/3 bottle on the counter for 4 days by accident. It was still amazingly full of fruit.
good dinner wine for all occasions
A little dry--I expect more fruit flavor from a merlot.

Wine Tasting NotesI'm very happy with the plush structure of this wine. The wine's berry fruit, vanilla, and caramel aromas along with a hint of smoke and dill, complement its blackberry and boysenberry flavors. The structureof this wine is perfectly balanced, and its weight and volume on the palate make this wine eminently drinkable.
Wine Tasting NotesOffering plush, soft, chewy tannins, and bright fruit characteristics this wine is a blend of ripe plum, black cherry, mint, toffee and dried herb aromas and mouth-coating flavors which are supported with cedar, vanilla, cocoa and nutmeg spice that transition to a long extracted finish.
The outstanding 2005 Merlot Bancroft Ranch represents Merlot at its finest. Sexy, chocolaty, black cherry and berry fruit intermix with loamy soil and coffee bean nuances, and are impressively presented in this full-bodied, attractive, elegant Merlot...
