Tasting Notes: Merlot Brjac wine is made from carefully selected bunches of very ripe Merlot grapes from the vineyard Brjac only in the best vintages. It matures 4 years in 500 l oak barrels, so that it matures into a totally harmonic wine, full bodied, with rich, intense aroma. And so it is also the Merlot Brjac 2003: deep ruby red, with a very intense, rich aroma, where we can scent mixed red fruits jam, chocolate, vanilla and tobacco, red pepper and other spices. Its taste is intense, full bodied and long lasting, warm and powerful, with velvet like mature tannins. Percentage Grape: 100% merlot Soil: marl, slate and sandstone Growing Climate: mediterranean climate Date of Harvest: end of october 2003 Type of Harvest: hand - picked, late harvest Vinification Length: 4 weeks Vinification Method: de-stemmed and put in vats, fermentation in maceration Vinification Temperature: 28°C Percentage New Barrel: 50% Age of Barrel: 1999, 2003 Type of Wood: french oak Level of Toast: medium Malolactic: yes Extract: 30,2 g/l Date of Bottling: 2007/07/02 Bottle Type: bordolese med 75 cl t.s.
