Winemakers Notes

This Merlot opens with aromas of red currant, vanilla and baking spices. On the palate you'll find flavors of raspberry, blackberry and cola with round tannins softened by seven months of aging in French and American oak.

I am not a wine drinker. When I have tasted wines in the past, they are too bitter. A friend bought a bottle of the 2007 for me and I enjoyed the fact that it was not bitter, but softer and sweeter. Being very new to wines, I feel that my friend made a good choice.

I had the 2004 a year ago, and things have not changed much. I got this as a 'complimentary gift' from our hotel. Nose is of raspberry, soy sauce, and vanilla. Tastes are of raspberry, caramel, vanilla. Easy to drink, but fakey sweet taste. I would've given this as high as 3.0 for a rating, but now thinks its more worth a 2.0 for having a very short life after its been popped. I open it at 1pm, corked it, then opened it again at 12 midnight. This vino just fell apart. Sour, bitter, astringent - even if it still smelled good.
