Jean-Nicholas Méo calls 2004 an extremely pretty vintage with excellent balance and while it's not a truly great millésime , it's altogether lovely. It could have been a great vintage but it lacks just a bit of concentration because otherwise, we had very good sugars at between 12.5 and 14% and I chaptalized nothing. Acidities were correct and while the wines have real energy, the pHs are not particularly high. The growing season was difficult however as we had hail in Chambolle and Morey, which delayed maturities but thankfully, an ideal September saved the harvest. We still had read more...
