Bright medium ruby. Slightly roasted aromas of currant, licorice and spicecake. Began a bit clenched and quite primary, but showed a more pliant, refined texture as it opened in the glass, with harmonious acidity leavening the wine's sweet fruit and exotic fruitcake ripeness. Finishes with fine tannins and very good persistence.

Deep ruby-red. Sexy oak adds another dimension to the aromas of blackberry, black plum, currant, graphite, licorice and dark chocolate. Suave and aromatic in the mouth, with a restrained sweetness to the dark berry, mineral and floral flavors. Offers a rather sophisticated texture and seemed to gain in complexity with aeration. The sweet tannins turned a bit chewy with air.

The 2005 Unus is 65% Malbec and 35% Cabernet Sauvignon from the same 77 year old vineyard. The wine was aged for 16 months in 100% new French oak and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Inky purple, it has a super-expressive perfume of toasty oak, pencil lead, cocoa, plum, and black cherry. Medium to full-bodied, plush, and full-flavored, this concentrated, well-balanced effort will improve with another 6-8 years in the bottle and provide pleasure through 2030.

The 2006 Unus, a blend of 70% Malbec and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, was sourced from the same 78-year-old estate vineyard and aged for 16 months in 100% new French oak. Deep crimson-colored, it offers up a complex bouquet of pain grille, pencil lead, violets, black cherry, and black currant. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it reveals an elegant personality with layered fruit, succulent flavors, silky tannins, and a lengthy finish. Give it 2andndash;3 years in the cellar to unwind and drink it from 2010 to 2018.

Wine Tasting NotesIncredible dark red/purple color. The aromas of sweet French oak and espresso get more complex with every swirl of the glass, unveiling black raspberry, blueberry and rose petal aromas. The wine is full-bodied, dense, deep and chewy with flavors of black raspberry, plums, cola, roasted coffee and caramel notes. Definitely a youngster with plenty of ripe tannins for structure, but this beauty could be enjoyed now with a nice ribeye steak or leg of lamb since it shows incredible balance for such a concentrated wine.

Wine Advocate Review Rated 93 The 2006 Unus, a blend of 70% Malbec and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, was sourced from the same 78-year-old estate vineyard and aged for 16 months in 100% new French oak. Give it 2-3 years in the cellar to unwind and drink it from 2010 to 2018. Wine Tasting Notes Incredible dark purple color. The aromas of dark cherries, plums and roasted cocoa come leaping out of the glass. This is a big but very suave wine with layers of ripe cherry and berry fruits, and the cocoa and vanilla flavors simply make this wines finish go on and on and on. There are loads of ripe, soft tannins, so this wine will certainly age beautifully for a decade or longer, but the temptation to drink it right away may be too much to resist. Serve with absolutely any red-wine friendly food and you will have a ball!
