Ménage à Trois Red Blend 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

Winemakers Notes: Mnage Trois red brings together three strange bedfellows: Zinfandel, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. To add complexity and retain character, each variety was fermented separately, then blended together prior to bottling. On top weve got Zinfandel, a saucy tease that brings blackberry and raspberry jam to the relationship. Merlot, with its generous mouth feel and red fruits, fits perfectly in the middle. The rich flavors and firm tannins of Cabernet Sauvignon make it the ideal candidate for the bottom layer of the trio.Cheese Pairings: 4-Year Gouda, GruyereFood Pairings: Buffalo Style Chicken Wings, Chicken Curry with Wild Rice

This is a great everyday bottle. It is very easy to drink and is very refined.

Our 2011 Ménage à Trois exposes the fresh, ripe, jam like fruit that is the calling card of California wine. Forward, silky and soft, this delicious dalliance makes the perfect accompaniment for grilled meats or chicken. -The Winery

$7.89 at Sam's. Nancy likes it. No bouquet, couldn't pick out any fruit taste. Was drinkable and when it was gone it was done. Did not hang around on the tongue.

Seems to be a cross between the overly-sweet generic "soft red table wine" you'd find at a local winery, and a more normal shiraz. It's about 10-20% too sweet in my opinion, but still easily drinkable.

One of my favorite nothing-special during-the-week table wines.

Undeniably fruity and unabashedly easy. It's meant to be quaffed, not analyzed. The White blend brings together citrus and tropical fruit flavors with crisp acidity.

Even if red wine is not your speed, give our Menage a Trois Red a try. This wine exposes the fresh, ripe, jam-like fruit that is the calling card of California wine. Three saucy grapes make up the blend. Zinfandel adds a juicy character, Merlot mellows and Cabernet adds backbone. Forward, spicy and soft, this delicious dalliance makes the perfect trio.
