Melville Pinot Noir Carrie's Block(2005)

Vintage: Comprised of clones 114 and 115, Carrie’s 4.9 acres sits on the mesa contiguous
with the Terraces’ sections. With twelve inches of top soil, several feet of dense clay and
slightly less wind pressure than Terraces, the vines from Carrie’s produce deeply
concentrated and focused fruit. Also enhancing the extremity of this site is the gravitational
pull on three exposed sides forcing the roots to search for sustainability. 50% stem inclusion.
Yields at 3.8 lbs / plant. Total skin and stem contact averaged 30 days (7 day cold soak, 2 +

Nice grip to the nose, the palate is very forward and ripe with smooth cherry and briar.

Melville continues to be one of my favorite wines in the Lompoc/Santa Rita Hills area. Their wine is as good as the heralded Sea Smoke not too far away. Carrier's in my opinion is there best Pinot Noir. It has a spectatular aroma with excellent blackberry flavors.
