Melville Estate Santa Rita Hills Chardonnay /90ag 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

"Powerful elegance describes this Chardonnay. It’s rich with buttered toast, creamy lees, and pineapple, lime and white-peach flavors along with a mineral component, like a lick of cold steel. The alcohol is nicely moderate. The winemaker avoided malolactic fermentation, giving this wine a bright, citrusy acidity. Overall, it’s a joyous, dry coastal Chardonnay for drinking now...91" WE 11/13 "More rich and full, with ripe pear, flowers, melon and baking spices all emerging from the glass, the 2011 Chardonnay Estate is medium-bodied and lively on the palate, with solid mid-palate flesh and depth to go with juicy, if not racy acidity on the finish. More textured and rich than the Clone 76 – Inox, yet not quite as well integrated, it will have another 3-4 years or longevity, although I see no reason to hold off. Drink now-2016...91" WA 8/13 "Bright lemon, citrus, white flowers and crushed rocks jump from the glass in a rich, pliant Chardonnay that shows remarkable depth and mid-palate pliancy. This is a terrific showing from Melville and winemaker Greg Brewer...90" Antonio Galloni 12/13
