What to Expect
Chardonnay is America's most popular grape and with good reason. Made in styles that range from steely, mineral laced wines with crisp green apple fruit to wines that are buttery, rich, and laden with tropical fruits, there is a Chardonnay that will appeal to every palate. Chardonnay is most closely associated with France's Burgundy region and California's Northern valleys though it has proven successful around the globe.
Winemakers Notes
This wine is 100% Santa Rita Hills from our Lompoc estate and is a combination of clones
4, 76 and 96, planted on well-drained sandy-loam soils. Yields averaged 3.8 lbs/plant in our
tightly spaced vineyard of 8 x 3 spacing equating to 1,815 vines/acre. The fruit was
hand-harvested then gently whole-cluster pressed, cold-settled overnight and transferred
by gravity to barrel for fermentation with 20% new French oak entirely from Damy, partial
malo-lactic (±30%) and subsequent sur lie aging without any lees disturbance. 15.3%
alcohol.
