A little tight right now, but thereandrsquo;s some beautiful blackberry, raspberry and floral character. Medium- to full-bodied, with firm tannins and a fresh finish. Best after 2009.
This vineyard-designate Riserva is a delicate and medium-bodied wine with aromas of wild berry, white mineral and violets. The nose is subtle and subdued but the mouthfeel is more intense thanks to the wineandrsquo;s fresh acidity and long berry flavors.
The estate's single-vineyards 2003 Chianti Classico La Selvanella Spent a whopping 30 months in French oak, something that is rarely seen these days. Dark, brooding aromas of smoke, tar, scorched earth, black cherries, leather and spices flow from this rich, large-scaled wine. The heat of the vintage has given this wine a nice plumpness to balance the tannins but the style remains decidedly imposing. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2015.
Heady cherry scents introduce this mature Chianti. It feels rich in the middle, smooth and austerely tannic in the end. A clean and complex red for braised veal.
