What to Expect
Zinfandel is considered America's own great indigenous grape, even though its origins lie on the Adriatic coast. Planted throughout California and the Pacific Northwest, Zinfandel is at its best in warm regions with cooler temperatures during harvest. The wines can range from off-dry Rosés, White Zinfandels, and light bistro styled wines, to big, rich powerful wines - even luscious wines for dessert bottling. The flavors range from plummy to raspberry, although deep blackberry fruit and brambly spice tones are most common.
Winemakers Notes
There is only one adjective for this Meeker creation and that is BIG!
Big aromas, big flavors, big fruit, big structure, big persistence!
The huge, booming nose of blackberries and carmelized brown sugar is followed by intense flavors of blueberry cream, cherry, black pepper and vanilla...all wrapped in a big bear hug of sweet French oak.
Barbarian will pair perfectly with a thick hunk of beef crusty with a spicy rub, a side of juicy portabella mushrooms, and a willing wench or varlet.
When you taste the wine, it's subtly seductive at first, but then explodes read more...

This big red from Meeker is one of my absolute favorites. Agent Sparkle loves it even more than I do. If you like intense and fruity reds, this is the wine for you. With a nose of blueberry, popcorn and raspberry and buttered-brown sugar on the mid-pallet, this is a ready to drink brute of a wine that pairs great with a grilled steak or a meat lasagna!
