Medusa Zinfandel Amador County Old Vine Deaver Ranch Pig Pen Vineyard 2004

Winemaker's Notes:

Notes on the Medusa Zinfandel Port Napa Valley 2004 : WINEMAKER NOTES: What do you do with 2 tons of dehydrated fruit you harvest early to ensure quality for the true harvest? MAKE ZINPORT! 2 tons were harvested on September 20, 2004. Fermented in small open top bins, we juiced it up with some high quality brandy to retain the great fruit flavors. The ZINPORT now rests in used French Oak. We will bottle approximately one barrel per yearMEDUSA ZINFANDEL PORT NAPA VALLEY 2004

A drive over Deaver’s 300 acres will take you past 120-year-old Zinfindel vines and eight acres of Mission vines, so called because they were brought from Mexico by the Jesuits and Franciscans. The Deaver mission vines were planted around 1853 by Ken Deaver's great grandfather John A. Davis. His son, Ken's grandfather, planted the Zinfandel four decades later. For years, the Deaver's "old vine" grapes were sold exclusively to home winemakers. The first vintage of Deaver Vineyards Zinfandel was bottled under the “Lakeshore” label in 1985. Read less

A new brand that has just released three new Zins. This one is not the best. It?s hot and soft, with syrupy cherry and blackberry flavors. -by Wine Enthusiast Superripe aromas of raspberry, licorice, blood orange, spicy underbrush and nutty oak,

Henry Modani built a house within this vineyard block in 1920, hence the name Henry?s House. This north facing site has great elevation and a microclimate that is warmer than the rest of the ranch. The uppermost section is actually a banana belt.
