Meander Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2006

External Review:

Rating: 88/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the August 2010 issue. A bit of quiet background blackcurrant fruit is trumped here by Cabernet's loamy earth leanings, but, if never outwardly fruity, the wine is moderately complex and very much on the varietal track. It hints here and there at touches of dried herbs, and it keeps ripeness in check. It finishes with enough tannic grip to warrant four to six years of age.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Cellar for future drinking. Wine will improve with bottle aging.

Meander is the result of my personal passion for Cabernet Sauvignon. I love making Cab and believe Napa Valley is the best place to do that. In 2000 I decided it was time to allow my passion to be fully realized, to create my own wine from vineyards of my choosing. I named this new baby mine Meander as a play on words. Meander’s production is exclusively Cabernet Sauvignon from the world renowned Napa Valley. The wine is a blend of fruit from two historical vineyards, both of which have been family-owned and farmed for generations: Morisoli Vineyard in Rutherford and Lewelling Vineyards in St. Helena. These producers are two of the Valley’s most sought after by winemakers who craft the highest quality Cabernet Sauvignon wines. Read less
