Dark. Jammy, smoky, spicy. Just a little oak. Very nice. One of my favorite petite sirahs. I enjoy drinking a glass of this wine on its own--food not necessary. I have never tried a McMannis Petite that I did not like. Very distinctive sirah out of Ripon, CA.

Just looking at the wine you know you're going to get a mouthful of fruit; dark, opaque and thick. The aromas blend notes of black berries, smoked spices and vanilla tinged oak. The palate echos those notes and finishes long and creamy. Outstanding effort! 93pts.

My Rating 90: Very full bodied concentrated wine with an almost tar like berry taste what is rather untypical for a Sirah. Nose is well balance and not to overpowering. Altogether unusual and a pleasure to drink

I wasn't expecting much for my $10 at the local grocery store, but this is a good wine. It has a deep purple color and a very full body although I tasted a very slight tannic aftertaste.

Familiar deep dark petite sirah color. Earthy and Oaky on the nose. Big and robust on the palate. Jammy. Tinges of berry on the sides of the tongue. Some tannin. Good value. Will be mating this up in about an hour with grilled marinated sirloin steak. US$8.29 at Total Wines.

The 2012 offering of Petite Sirah from McManis Family Vineyards is vivid purple in color, with aromas of full toned Blackberry and Boysenberry. Caramel and Toffee are evident in the bouquet, as well as a Chocolate oak profile. The wine is substantial, yet has a rich soft cream texture of mocha. Very elegant and full of ripe black fruit flavors of Blackberry and Blueberry. These fruit flavors are savoured in the lingering mouthwatering finish. - Winery

The 2011 offering of Petite Sirah from McManis Family Vineyards is almost black in color. While very dark in color the hue is vibrant and youthful. The nose has an abundance of ripe black fruits, predominantly Blackberry and Boysenberry. Oak aging has contributed a pleasing mélange of rich creamy caramel and maple syrup scents, with just a barely perceptible waff of smoke. The dense viscous liquid delivers all of the flavors one would expect from the aromatics. Savory and luscious the finish pleasantly persistent. - Winery ** SOLD OUT **

This is a soft, easy Petite Sirah, rich in blackberry and currant flavors, with a smoky, chewy meatiness, like the salty, charred edge of a roast. Bone dry, it offers a lot of pleasure for the price. Best Buy. -S.H.
