Mcmanis Family Vineyards Viognier 2014
Awards: Gold Medal - 91pts. - 2015 Los Angeles International Wine Competition. Winemaker Notes: Light straw in color, the 2014 McManis Family Vineyards Viognier has aromas of Peach, Pear and Apricot. The rich, velvety wine is full of fruit flavors promised by the aroma. The long fruit finish has a slight note of minerality, but is smooth and lacks any of the bitterness often associated with this variety.
Editorial Reviews for Mcmanis Family Vineyards Viognier
Ripe pineapple, honeysuckle, and a hint of chamomile greet the nose. Characteristic tropical fruit notes are steady, strong, yet subtle. Smooth, full, and oily on the palate. Lemon curd with underpinnings of mango and papaya dominate the experience of this value Viognier.
Oh baby, at this price buy two or more bottles because if you like Viognier, this one is very nice. Under $10 is mighty fine. Once you sip this you'll love the mineral coating inside your trap. Shades of melon, tropical fruits like papaya, mango, pear and a touch on non obtrusive lemon. Deep in the throat, the minerality waits to be splashed again and again with these tropical flavors. Honey notes, beautiful notes they are Yes, the color is absolutely beautiful, like the gold of a King. Invite me over when you twist the cap and remember who recommended it to you
Four and a half glasses
Pale in color, beautiful aromas of mixed fruit and spring flowers. Feels delicate in the mouth. Low acidity. Lots of fruit, but not a whole lot of sugar. Rich pear, kiwi, butter and toast. I love it!
Rich floral peach & apricot aromas & flavors; great balance & depth with hints of citrus. 91 points.
I'm generally not that big on Viognier, but I really like this one. A good value as well.
To my uncultivated nose, this Viognier had an aroma of pome fruit and...cheese? There was a savory note mixed in with the apple and pear on tasting that gave the sweetness depth. VERY smooth and drinkable - alone or with, perhaps, a dessert course of fruit, nuts and cheese.
This is a very good wine or the price and a good example of a Viognier. I often recommend this one for someone who hasn't been exposed to Viognier or looking for a new white wine to try.

It’s easy to enjoy the ripe pear, peach, vanilla and cream flavors in this extremely smooth, mellow Viognier. The texture is nice and rich, the body is full, the flavors just short of sweet and the finish lingers a long time.
Grown mostly at McManis’s Central Valley estate at the confluence of the Stanislaus and San Joaquin Rivers, this viognier is a steal: ripe and warming but rich enough to hold the heat in check, fragrant with jasmine and apricot scents, lasting on an apricot-skin grip that turns earthy at the end. Pour it with grilled fish or roasted king trumpet mushrooms.
Medium straw in color. Aromas of apricot and honey are accompanied by underlying mineral notes. The apricot found on the nose carries over to the flavor, of this rich wine, pear and grapefruit accompany it. The finish is long and faintly flinty.
The 2009 Viognier is medium straw in color with aromas of Peach, Apricot and hints of flinty citrus. Pears, Apples and Melon flavors are accompanied by a rich mouth feel, nice acid balance and a clean finish. We are happy to announce that the 2009 Viognier is sealed with a Stelvin Lux Screw Cap. The Stelvin Lux is a top of the line enclosure that gives the appearance of a bottle with a cork finish, but with screw cap ease. Just twist it off.
