Mcmanis Family Vineyards Merlot California 2008
Wow! What a deal! Packed with notes of black currant, red berries & vanilla; soft & fruit filled (how apropo!). 92 points.
I'm not a wine expert, but after drinking other more expensive bottles of wine, my husband and I found this Merlot to be excellent (McManis, 2008 Merlot).

Concentrated and youthful, with chunky blackberry, cherry and plum tones, highlighted by generous toasty oak and modest tannins. Drink now through 2006.
This label continues the value game with another rich, flavorful wine at an everyday price. It floods the mouth with juicy, sweet flavors of cherries and blackberries, with a round, opulent texture. Buy this beauty by the case, not the bottle.
Dark, dry and fruity, this Merlot is a little heavy and simple, but has a tasty array of blackberries, black cherries, plums, pomegranates and savory spices. Nice everyday red, with a bit of fanciness.
Fresh cherry and red berry fruits, hint of chocolate, silky oak finish.
Authenticly-styled Merlot from a consistently good producer. Smooth, lush and velvety mouthfeel, deep berry fruits and a pretty lengthy finish. Find out why Merlot continues to be America's sweetheart!
The oak flavors and juicy berry fruit provide a rich, creamy texture that is free of astringent tannins. The finish is lengthy and full of toasted oak that lingers on the palate. A deep purple color with youthful bright hues characterizes this wine's appearance. The aromas feature ripe, dark red fruits: strawberries and raspberry. A bouquet of spicy oak, with hints of milk chocolate, complements the aromas.
Smells and tastes like a decent inexpensive Cabernet, with black-currant flavors and soft, easy tannins. It's also soft in acids, but the flavors are pretty and the wine is pleasant to sip.
