Mcmanis Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon California 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

Wine Tasting Notes Coupled with a deep ruby-purple color, the aroma has a very distinctive blackberry component that is layered with hints of clove and mocha spiciness. The fruit on the palate has a richness and density that is supported by substantial levels of tannins. A roasted heavy toast oaken finish lingers for an extended period.

Rating 90. Full structur with good tannins and a hint of sweet fruit, long finish. Nose shows oak and layered berries. A very nice value that gives a lot for it's price

For $8-10 this is a drinkable wine, but I think at this price point it would be advisable to switch varietals for California and/or switch to an Argentine or Chilean wine (or Portuguese) for a similar price. It's simple fruit and oak flavors with no tannins and low acidity. Nothing wrong with it, it's just a very simple entry-level wine.

This is my favorite wine under $10. This may sound odd, but to me the initial taste is rich and almost like butter. I know only chardonnays are supposed to taste like butter - so it must be the rich tannins, the mocha, or the blackberry. Whatever, that initial taste just keeps me coming back for more and more!

Deep clear color, fruit and chocolate aromas, full on the palate. Sorry we only had one bottle.

Mirroring flavors, aromas and a bouquet of Blueberry, Blackberry, Mocha, Milk Chocolate and Toffee, give this wine a wonderful impact on the palate and nose. With the addition of a small amount of Petit Verdot and French Oak aging to further add complexity, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon is one of our best Cabernets to date.
