Food Pairings for Mclean's Farm Riesling Eden Valley E.V
Here is one of my favorite babies. It is the first of our wines that contains enough fruit from our own barr-Eden vineyard to influence the unique floral flavours of musk and lilac, finishing with typical E.V. citrus lime notes. We do not ferment Riesling on the property. The fruit is handpicked, held in cold rooms at 2 degrees until we have suitable space and time to whole bunch press at Trevor Jones’ winery in Lyndoch. Riesling demands quality, balance, elegance, style and cleanliness - we just pick and get the grapes to the right address on time. Colin Forbes, master of the great 1980’s Rieslings from Craneford, after having worked with me on the 2005 and 2006, has now joined us on Mengler’s Hill, to our mutual advantage. Tyson Stelzer wrote in the June 2008 edition of WBM’S 100 wrote, “WBM100; Bob Mclean has made only 250 cases of this CD release and it’s the best wine he has ever put in front of me. The bouquet is zesty with lime juice and creamy white peach aromas but it really comes into its own in its smoothly constructed palate with very controlled integration, pure fruit spicy complexity and fine, minerally structure 94 points”
