Mazzocco Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley West Dry Creek Reserve 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2008 vintage was outstanding for West Dry Creek Zinfandel, providing an irresistible opportunity to bottle a selected portion of the wine as a reserve. Located at the base of Bradford Mountain, our 8-acre West Dry Creek vineyard is an exception site for Zinfandel, bestowing vibrant aromatics to the nose and richly textured tannins on the palate. Bottled unfined.

These valleys are renowned for producing superior quality fruit. Mazzocoo winery is nestled in the rolling hills of Sonoma County, perched on a saddle between the acclaimed valleys of Dry Creek and Alexander. In 2005, Mazzocco was brought into the Wilson family, who were eager to add the Zinfandel vines surrounding the winery. Renown for its single vineyard-designate Zinfandels—wines so robust and sumptuous, they’re unforgettable. Mazzocco Zins are remarkably individual in nature—a characteristic shared with their award-winning Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. “It’s the fruit,” confesses winemaker Antoine Favarro. Indeed, Mazzocco draws from some of the most breathtaking mountain vineyards in Sonoma County. It’s the fruit combined with history and tradition, seasoned with a little innovation, that makes Mazzocco one of the most distinctive and sought-after brands in California. Tasting Notes:

Savory fragrances of blackberry cobbler, strawberry rhubarb and spice swim on a bed of violets. The inviting mouth entry composed of lush blueberry jam and wild cherry, highlighted with spicy habanero, lead to a firm core of plush tannins accented with maple syrup.
