One of my favorites! Has a slightly sweet maple taste but with good depth for a zinfandel. I had been a wine club member of mazzocco, so not sure if I would pay the retail $40, but it is a great wine!! Pairs well with pork and gorgonzola.

This is loaded with briary wild berry and blueberry aromas and jammy flavors that offer appealing layers of black raspberry, licorice and cracked pepper. The tannins are firm but ripe. Drink now through 2012. 450 cases made.
A: not at all ebullient aromatically; some hints of dark fruit and sweetness but mostly the wine is keeping its secrets in reserve. B: Until you sip. Impressively cool, sweet entry with a lot of blueberry in the black cherries, some clove and allspice, dry earth, figs and pomegranate - good complexity with harmony to boot, and it all carries through to the finish. Plenty of bramble and texture and enough tannin to undergird everything else. C: a full-spectrum Zin experience that also has distinct personality from the vineyard and the vintage. Drinking very, very well.
