What to Expect

Oregon has only recently emerged as a source for premium wine and is winning fans over to their somewhat earthy style of Pinot Noir. With vineyards a bit cooler than most of California's, yet warmer still than Burgundy, Oregon's Pinot Noirs feature a synthesis of ripe fruit, ripe structure and transparency that draws on the strengths of both. The wines tend to have a touch of earthiness and a sense of transparency that many Pinots from California lack yet the fruit profile, full of dark berries, is decidedly warm-climate in nature.

We thought this a fitting name for a wine that blends grapes from every block of our vineyard. Sourced from Dijon and Pommard vines planted on a variety of soil types and at different elevations, Jamsheed is a glimpse into our realm.Color and complexity have never been a problem at Momtazi Vineyard and the 2006 vintage was no exception. The medium aubergine color of the 2006 Jamsheed Pinot noir makes a statement before one even picks up the glass. On first approach, it yields dark aromas of plums, black currents, Rainer cherries and spicy currants. Balanced acidity coupled with fine-grained, soft tannins keep the fruit lingering in ones mouth couples with a long soothing finish.
