This 2003 Abtsberg Riesling Spatlese can be compared with butterflies: extremely colorful but also very light. The Mosel-Saar-Ruwer region, where this wine is produced, is known for the finest Riesling wines in the world. The Mosel yields the softest, broadest and fullest wines, the Saar the steeliest and most austere, the Ruwer the most fragrant, with a fine fruity acidity. Good depth and richness here, yet balanced by soft acids, minerality and spice. Hints of kerosene spark the aromas, which also boast ripe apple and pear notes.
