Matua Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

A vibrant wine style with a zesty crisp acidity and lively palate of gooseberry and apple favors, with hints of green melon. A freshness and appealing intensity completes this elegent wine. Great starter for any evening!"Primarily a red wine drinker, I was pleasantly surprised to find a new favorite in Matua Valley's 2007 Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. The aroma first captivated my senses with it's bright citrus and mild honey notes. Lemon fruit, tangerine and a touch of pine on the palate with a refreshing, balanced acidity make this a great food companion. I tried it with seared scallops, wild rice, and a light arugula salad. Wow...a match made in heaven! ~ Tim Kessinger"

grassy, herbal citrus notes of grapefruit pithe, tinge of peach - a very aromatic nose. Full of grapefruit, lemon, lime, crisp acidity with a little floral on the palate as well. excellent fruit and acidic balance

Good value in this 2007 vintage. While it may not be a show-stopper, it's easy drinking. Very herbaceous with citrus notes on the nose, and the palate follows up with passionfruit on a medium finish.

Nothing close to the Matua vintage of a few yeats ago. Flat and boring, I'd stick with my Nobilo that I love.

Lively, with very good concentration to lime, stone, orange peel and grassy flavors. A trace of sweetness rounds out the finish. Wine Spectator. A Sauvignon Blanc wine from Marlborough in New Zealand. 2007 Matua Sauvignon Blanc 750ml

Wine Tasting NotesA distinctive and aromatic Marlborough sauvignon blanc, delivering bright and lively gooseberry and passionfruit characters with a hint of lime. The palate is well proportioned with refreshing tropical flavours that linger on the seductive finish.

Light green in colour, passionfruit and citrus fruits fill the nose complimented by complexing flint. The palate is filled with tight passionfruit, melon and lemon fruit. This is all kept in check by the distinctive and chalky Marlborough acidity.
