Matua Valley Pinot Noir 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

Grapes were sourced from various vineyards across the Marlborough region to complete this blend. Individual vineyard sites vary considerably in soil, climate, aspect and yield with each adding something different to the final blend. Parcels were machine harvested and fermented separately on skins utilizing various types of vessels to complete the primary fermentation. A variety of selected yeast strains were used to carry out the fermentation to enhance various characters in the individual parcels and to create complexity in the final blend. Malolactic fermentation was completed in a mix of seasoned French (20%) and American (5%) oak along with stainless steel tanks. The parcels were then matured for a further five months before final blending. The resulting wine is vibrant light cherry red in color, the nose exhibits perfumed violet aromas, complementing sweet cherry fruit. The palate displays soft, rich sweet fruit, balanced with integrated lingering oak, resulting in a palate of length and complexity.
