Claudine Russel, Thierry Matrot's aunt, directs this small 3.5 ha domaine that produced its first harvest in 1999. Mme Russel is always direct and if need be, will point out when she isn't happy with her wines. To wit, she wasn't happy with either of her '04 reds, in fact to the extent that she may not bottle the Blagny, choosing instead to sell it off. And if the Blagny is not as good as the Santenots, then she would be making the right decision as the Santenots is clearly not at its usual level.
