This is very Gevrey with the distinctly animale hints to the cool earth-inflected aromas that include cassis plum and black berry. The exceptionally rich round and suave medium-bodied flavors possess a highly seductive texture with an abundance of palate coating extract that pushes the otherwise firm tannic spine to the background on the dusty serious and solidly focused finish. Good juice and potential here. Burghound.
There is enough reduction present here to knock down the expressiveness of the nose though it seems reasonably clear that underneath the funk is ripe and earth fruit. There is excellent richness to the solidly well-concentrated flavors that possess a suave mouth feel due to the presence of plenty of dry extract. There is a hint of austerity to the tension-filled firm and admirably persistent finish. Burghound.
A very ripe nose of lightly spiced plum and plenty of dark berry fruit liqueur nuances gives way to rich round and really quite generous flavors that culminate in a mineral-inflected focused and highly vibrant finish. There is a real sense of energy here that along with the silky mouth feel make for a refreshing and highly sophisticated effort. Drink: 2018+ Burghound.
A spicy and broad-ranging nose offers up notes of plum earth humus forest floor and smoked tea as well as the defining animale component of a classic Corton. This is a big boy with rich powerful and imposingly concentrated large-scaled flavors that brim with mouth coating and tannin-buffering dry extract that terminates in an explosive and dazzlingly persistent finish. It s interesting as this juxtaposes a velvety palate feel against the muscle of a serious Corton. Drink: 2022+ Burghound.
Evening Land s 2010 Pinot Noir Seven Springs Vineyard La Source - representing selected inter alia shallower tufa and weathered basalt soils - predictably has much in common with its generic counterpart notably an emphasis on invigoratingly tart juicy cranberry and cherry tinged with sassafras fruit pit and black pepper. But here much more complexity is achieved including overtones of floral perfume lemon oil and licorice as well as a mouthwateringly savory salted red meat undertone that carries through the multilayered and almost unstoppably vibrant finish. The clarity and polish of this performance are unlikely to diminish over the coming decade but rather to be enhanced by their stay in bottle. -David Schildknecht Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.
This is also extremely pretty if not quite as elegant with an earthy nose of extract of red berry fruit and wet stone aromas introducing round and seductively textured flavors. There is plenty of verve to the detailed and impressively complex finish that delivers excellent length along with fine balance. This too is well worth considering. Drink: 2016+ - Comments: Outstanding Burghound.
An overtly fruity yet solidly complex nose features notes of cassis plum violet and black raspberry. There is an appealing mineral streak to the delicious medium-bodied flavors that exude both floral and spice elements on the delicious long and balanced finish. This too will drink well almost immediately yet there is good underlying material to suggest 3 to 5 years of upside development potential. Burghound.
