Matarromera Ribera del Duero Crianza 2008

Member Review by jtryka:

This wine has a lovely deep ruby color in the glass. I've let this one breathe a bit, it's now been opened for a few hours, and the nose presents some lovely aromas of leather, oak, ripe berries and some licorice and vanilla notes. The taste is quite nice, with some wonderful ripe fruit up front, blackberries, plum, and some nice toasted oak and coffee flavors midpalate. The finish is quote nice, with some smoky, earthy notes with a good bit of minerality, almost a limestone quality. The tannins are well polished making for a long, smooth, dry finish. Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Nice dark color. Aroma of leather, coffee, strawberry, and hint of vanilla. The palate has dark fruity flavors, very nice approachable tannins with some herbal notes and some spice. A beautiful finish. This wine screams for a big steak.

Matarromera Ribera del Duero Crianza 2008: pleasant aromas of blackberry, plum, menthol and a little anise. Dark fruit, lots of leather, herbal and zesty mineral notes lead into the long, dry finish.

Clean and bright. Deep cherry colour with purple glints. On the nose it is very complex. Excellent harmony: strawberry, blackberry and figs; some hints of milky aromas; the ageing results in a clean and new wood with toast, coffee, vanilla, leather and cocoa aromas. On the palate, powerful, extraordinary backbone and elegant. Sweet polished tannins perfectly balanced with spicy and fruity flavours. Smooth and lingering finish.Pairs wonderfully with a hearty rare bone in ribeye Matarromera Website
