What to Expect

Chardonnay is America's most popular grape and with good reason. Made in styles that range from steely, mineral laced wines with crisp green apple fruit to wines that are buttery, rich, and laden with tropical fruits, there is a Chardonnay that will appeal to every palate. Chardonnay is most closely associated with France's Burgundy region and California's Northern valleys though it has proven successful around the globe.

Winemakers Notes

Tasting Notes :A top offering, the 2005 Chardonnay is a 23,500-case wine that enjoyed 95% malolactic fermentation as well as eight months in French oak (only 32% new). Smoke, lemon oil, white currant, white peach, hazelnut, and orange rind aromas jump from the glass of this 2005. It displays terrific fruit and purity, but little evidence of wood.

The palate is round and velvety with a prolonged, flavorful finish of honeyand melon. There is also a unique and subtle hint of smoke, derived from basalt, an ancient ocean floor rockfound in Bennett Valley's soil. Although read more...
