Matane Primitivo 2009
Winemaker's Notes:
“100% Primitivo from the Salento peninsula, the southernmost portion of Puglia and Italy’s easternmost area is a land — geographically and culturally — of extremes and dramatic beauty, stretching out between two seas. Very deep ruby red with violet reflections, fruity, spicy and intense bouquet, with notes of plums, cherries, rosemary and vanilla. Full, mellow, well balanced wine showing immediate appeal.”

Add your reviewBerry fruit, plum aromas, a little floral, a lot of red fruit with pepper on the palate, a sweetness but med-full bodied, juiciness, smooth mouthfeel
"It bites your tongue and then says 'It's Okaaay' "An old world Primitivo with roasted herbs, white pepper, and raspberry on the nose. On the palate, dark fruit with sweet basil and rosemary, backed by hints of earthy white pepper. Well balanced acidity and tannins. At ~$12/btl retail, a wonderful value and great introduction to a traditional Primitivo. Paired well with Minestrone.
