In the latest Wine Enthusiast Magazine, saying they may "represent the pinnacle of quality and craftsmanship from individual territories”, a select group of wines are featured as being the “defining wines of Italy”, and this is one of those iconic wines. Standing along side greats like Sassicaia, Gaja Barbaresco, Biondi-Santi Brunello and Ornellaia, Taurasi Riserva Radici is a true classic. Aglianico-based, it is often referred to as the “Barolo of the South”. Produced by Mastroberardino, masters of Taurasi who can be credited with its rediscover and elevation to world class status, this single vineyard wine is one of the finest examples you'll ever taste. Rated 93 points by Wine Enthusiast Magazine who said “Here is a gorgeous smoky and spicy expression of Taurasi with harmonious notes of leather, black cherry, mineral, cola and pepper. The wine has enormous length and persistency and offers many layers of taste and texture. This is a beautiful bottle that should be cellared for at least five more years.” Extremely Limited!

Winemaker's Notes:

Color: Intense ruby red. Bouquet: Full, complex, intense bouquet redolent of tobacco, cherry, violet and berries. Palate: In the mouth it is enveloping, elegant, and persistent. The background has distinct notes of plum, bitter cherry, strawberry jam, black pepper. Food affinities: A fine accompaniment to roast meats and larger game (deer, wild boar, etc.), spiced dishes or truffle, and mature cheese.
