Massolino Barolo Classico D O C G 2004
Editorial Reviews for Massolino Barolo Classico D O C G
Dark and a bit extracted with rich fruit but very powerful and dry tannins. A bit of wood muddies the middle here but the style is one that is very popular. Very black fruited and with top notes of wood spice. A solid effort.
Very meaty and thick. Very nice. Over the top and fruit forward, the most new world style Barolo I've had in a long time. Tasted at the Snooth / Chambers Street Wines Magnificent Barolo Tasting

Crushed berries and game on the nose turn to fresh-picked roses. Full-bodied, with well-integrated and racy tannins. Ripe and enticing fruit on the palate. Well-crafted wine. Best after 2008.
The 2004 Barolo is a classically-built wine redolent of perfumed, sweet fruit, violets, spices, tar, new leather, menthol and herbs. This medium-bodied, firm Barolo offers outstanding elegance and purity. It is a terrific effort at this level. Anticipated maturity: 2010andndash;2014.
Raspberry, truffle, tobacco and cedar on the nose. Full-bodied, with a solid core of fruit and ultrafine tannins. This is refined, yet structured and muscular. Best after 2011.
The 2000 Barolo, the regular bottling, offers a fresh and spicy nose, a medium body of good force and length, some attractive notes of leather and licorice, and a rather smooth finish for a Barolo from Serralunga. Drink: 2005ndash;2015.

Massolino decided against bottling their single-vineyard Barolos in 2003, opting instead for a blend, which consumers will be able to enjoy at a very reasonable price considering todayrsquo;s market environment. The estatersquo;s 2003 Barolo is made in a soft approachable style. It reveals notable depth in its core of vibrant black cherries with lovely purity and well-integrated tannins. This is a terrific effort from Massolino. Anticipated maturity: 2007ndash;2018.
