Masseria Li Veli Askos Verdeca Valle d'Itria IGT 2013
ASKOS is the name of our project of rediscovery and selection of ancient Apulian grape varieties that are almost disappearing. Wines are produced by using exclusively these indigenous varietals, cultivated in their most suitable terroirs according to the traditional method. We have chosen a Greek "Askos" (wine jar) as a symbol of the wine making, a practice that in Puglia was started by the ancient Greeks.
surprisingly bright and flavorful. Lots of fruit, finish a bit short. Enjoyable with a nice soft cheese.

The 2011 Verdeca is flat-out beautiful. Layers of floral infused yellow stone fruits flowers mint and licorice are all woven together in this striking highly expressive white. This is a dazzling effort. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2014. Li Veli is one of the most exciting wineries to come on the scene in the last few years. The Falvo family has done a great job ratcheting up the quality following their sale of Avignonesi in Montepulciano. As has been the case since Li Veli was founded many of the gems in this range are found at the more modest price points. --- Antonio Galloni Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.
