Consistent with last tasting note, this is a light and refreshing sauvignon blanc with a touch of spritz and loads of grapefruit. Had it with Indian-style chicken and couscous and it was fantastic. An SB heading off into Gewurz territory. And yes, it was hot out, so that may have played into the reaction! Not 100% characteristic of varietal, but I'm giving it high points anyway.

Very good SB. Crisp, clean, and citrusy with a freshness that was not at all harsh or acidic. Slightly spritzy on first tasting the wine. Great for summer parties, light fare, fish. Had with poached salmon and herb sauce.

Winemaker's Notes:

"Pomelo is the name of a new and separate wine label made by Randy Mason. It is 100% Sauvignon Blanc. Mason who has always wanted to demystify wine and make it available and enjoyable to all, has produced a Sauvignon Blanc with a California appellation. Made from grapes from Lake County, California, not blended lots. By selecting the desired type of Sauvignon Blanc grapes from Lake County, and making it using his masterful hand, Mason is able to produce a wine that is of great value to the consumer and one that tastes delicious. Lake County is perhaps the best region in America for growing stellar Sauvignon Blanc, located north of Napa in a cool growing region. Passion fruit, kumquat and grapefruit aromas jump from the glass. "
