You have to agree with Robert Parker on this one. This is a finely nuanced Amarone. The tannins are beautifully balanced with a lovely, juicy, berry palate and cherry tones. Very drinkable right now. Load up the truck!
The nose showed dark chocolate covered cherries, sweet spice and tobacco. On the palate, it was full bodied , yet fresh, balanced and vibrant, holding it's alcohol effortlessly with flavors of rips cherry and spice. The finish was pleasant, but seemed to fade quickly off the palate. In the end, it's a highly enjoyable bottle of Amarone.
Wine has nothing extreme, full in most ways that matter. Alluring rich nose of creamy red fruit and tart notes. In the mouth has balanced and well-integrated, clean, deep sour ripe fruit (black cherry, elderberry, perhaps blackberry) with a slightly buttery and metal edge with spices. Finish fades from sour to sweet fruit with a hint of wood. Good QPR. Dryish. Body medium plus, acid medium plus, tannin medium.
Big and a tad funky. Concentrated black fruit. Big and bold. - WS Grand Tour 2011
It wasn't bad. It was a smooth, pleasant Italian wine, but nothing special imo. It has nice balance, but not the complexity of other 'ripasso' style wines that I like much better.
Light, but intense red fruit. Simple and smooth. Excellent picnic wine.

This 2000 offers up bright red cherries, and just a hint of mint tea in its light-styled blend. Try with vegetable lasagna.
Bonacosta is a thin and easy-going Valpolicella that makes a food-friendly companion to pasta, sliced ham appetizers and barbecued hamburger. It offers sharp fruit tones followed by crisp freshness.
