Masi Masianco 2016

Editorial Review by Snooth Editorial:

Light and floral aromas of orange blossom, honey and peach. Palate is fresh and lively, but simple yet pleasing. There's peach and apricot, a bit of lemon zest and green apple. The long finish is even a bit herbal.

Masi offered a bottle of balsamic vinegar with this wine so my companion had to have it (or its fratello Campofiorin). The wine is, however, quite refreshing with citrus (Verduzzo component) and forward white fruit (Pinot Grigio component) on the palate. Soft, gentle - this wine is a perfect aperitif. Decent Italian white for a decent price. 86 points.

A little on the sweet side. Flavors of honey and greenery. Dash of apricot. Quite a drinkable little wine.

Pinot Grigio and Verduzzo are blended to shape a fresh and luminous white wine that would pair with seafood or light chicken dishes. The wine is clean and sharp on the palate with zesty acidity on the close.

Helles Zitronengelb. Frisch-fruchtige Nase, lebendige Zitrusaromen, Apfel, dezente Holzaromen. Süffig am Gaumen, sehr weich, elegant mit runden Tanninen und Apfelfruchtigem Ausdruck. Im Abgang schönes Frucht/Säure-Spiel.

Wine Tasting NotesThe wine has an intense straw-yellow color. The intense and fragrant bouquet is characterized by floral (wisteria) and fruity (apple, pear, bananas) notes. On the palate, it has a pleasant acidity, good freshness and intense taste. Medium bodied. The over-ripened Verduzzo leaves a delicate hazelnut note on the finish. A unique wine with a distinct personality, Masianco balances the clean, white fruit and citric acidity of Pinot Grigio with the complex, buttery, tropical fruit notes of Verduzzo.

Straw-yellow with a gold tinge. Pleasantly sweet aromas of fully ripe apricot and tropical fruit jump from the glass, with hints of cinnamon and brown sugar adding complexity. The palate is rich with grapey, tangerine and almond flavors; there's a hint of sweetness but harmonious acids keep this fresh and lively. Offers a lovely rich mouth feel but the persistent finish shows noteworthy freshness. This unique blend of grapes is a very successful one; although not terribly complex, the wine is irresistible in its juicy, grapey appeal.

Year after year, Masi rolls out one of the most interesting Pinot Grigio blends to come out of northern Italy. The Masianco difference is the slightly overripe Verduzzo component (25%) that adds mature fruit intensity and structure. Masianco is a clean and genuine wine, with floral fragrances and a crisp close.
